Using Partial Dentures to Replace Multiple Lost Teeth

Posted .

Occasionally tooth decay can, when left untreated, irreparably damage multiple teeth in an area of your mouth. This can cause the loss of a number of teeth in that area, compromising the ability of your mouth to function properly in normal activities.

In a situation such as this, Dr. Stan Scalf may suggest restoring your smile by fitting you for a partial denture. These are smaller dentures that are designed to replace only a few teeth in the area that has suffered tooth loss.

If you still have unhealthy teeth in the affected area, our dentist may recommend extracting them. They will also check the surrounding teeth to make sure they are healthy. If they’re not, he may suggest extracting them as well and adding them to the partial.

After the area has been prepared, our dentist will take a detailed casting of it and the surrounding teeth, including the opposing teeth. This casting will then be sent to a dental lab where your partial denture will be made to replace your lost teeth perfectly.

If you have lost multiple teeth in one part of your mouth, you should call Stan Scalf DMD in Georgetown, Kentucky, at 502-863-9340 to see if you’re a good candidate for a partial denture.
